Is maith liom mo léine bándearg.
I'm trying to say "I like my pink shirt."
An feidir le heinne cuidiu liom? Ta me ag foghlaim
(Can anyone help me? I'm just learning)
Hi again!
you are correct here uvagirl!
léine in this case is feminine. when an adjective follows a feminine noun it usually is aspirated.
For example:
An fear mór
but
an bhean mhór
Your setence structure is perfect! The only thing i would add would b an aspiration to bándearg.
Is maith liom mo léine bhándearg.
I hope this is ok and that it helps you.
(an aspiration is when you place a 'h' after the first consonant in orderto soften the sound by the way :-) )
Gerard
Thanks so much! That really helps. Another question - if léine is feminine, why isn't it an lhéine, and mo mo lhéine bhándearg? If the question is too complicated to get into, I understand. In any case, GRMA for all our help!
Hi again Laura,
Tá súil agam go bhfuil tú go maith! :)
In Irish there are certain consonants that can't be aspirtated...so if they can't be aspirated then we just leave them as they are. A handy way to remember which can't be aspirated is:
He
Likes
Noodles &
Rice
This means that words begining with H, L,N,R can't be aspirated
another one to remember is
SCallions
SMell
SPicey in
STew
Which means SC,SM,SP,ST don't aspirate
the other ones that don't aspirate are vowels
I hope this helps :)
