    Verb pronunciations

    Dear Michelle:

I know your VERY busy, BUT you did ask for suggestions.  It would be absolutely incredibly helpful if you or someone could pronounce

the present, past , and future of the 11 irregular verbs and the regular verbs found on the noted chart used by most learners.  For example, I want to learn verb no.1 TAR - COME.  As I try, I'm immediately dubious and defeated wanting to make sure how the past, present, and future sound.

Example: Present "Tagaim"- I'm okay with that.

"Thainig me" - I'm guessing something like "hainig me"

"Tiocfaidh me" - I'm guessing something like "chocee me"

It is unnerving when we learners are trying to get the Irish correct before we commit the time to learn it and imprint it on the mind.  It would be a very very helpful addition to this site and would consist of:  11X3= 33 recordings for irregular verbs and 33X3=99 recordings for all other verbs on the chart.  That's a total of 132 tiny recordings that would be invaluable.   http://www.dfwgaelicleague.com/files/GlanceCard.pdf

    My thoughts,

    Faber

Ps. Went to language immersion this weekend with dad in Dallas.  We greatly benefitted....our professor was John Gleeson.  The link for the chart I refer to is   http://www.dfwgaelicleague.com/files/GlanceCard.pdf

Am currently working on an interactive flash activity that will let you scroll through all the verbs and tenses and hear the audio, along with sample sentence (usual stuff), but it will take quite a while to get it built and out. I couldn't open that pdf - can you check the link or upload the pdf itself to our member docs area? http://talkirish.com/media/g/memberdocuments/default.aspx

    Re: Verb pronunciations

This is a chart off of the website of Conradh na Gaeilge (Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas).  It was given by Professor John Gleeson in a weekend immersion course.  The organizer of the event was Sean Macguire.  It is a very comprehensive chart and is a copy of a chart produced and sold on various websites.  I have found it extremely helpful.

    Thanks, Faber MacMhoalain, Texas              http://www.dfwgaelicleague.com/files/GlanceCard.pdf

I tried to upload it and it said that I need the administrator's permission.  Just go to www.dfwgaelicleague.com and check under resources and you'll find the chart there.

    Slan go foill,

    Faber
