Dropping the "a" ?

I was watching a video on YouTube ( Irish language lesson),

and the man says in everyday speech, you drop the "a" in words

like "an bhfuil".  Is this correct?

Not sure if this is exactly correct; it might be more correct to say you "glide over it," sort of dropping the "n" from "an".  Of course, I am basing that on things I have heard, not on "everyday speech...."

Grma , Dale ! So, I've been away for awhile because I had the " not so bright" idea that it would be easier to learn Scots Gaelic because the language is spoken a lot slower than Irish.

Boy was I wrong ! 😄.  Like Irish , it's a beautiful language, but I found the words very hard to pronounce . So , I admitted defeat and decided to just work on speaking Irish faster. 😁

Cuireann an béim ar an focal "bhfuil" agus ní cloiseann tú ach "n" ar dtús.

The emphasis is put on bhfuil and you only hear the n at the start (i.e not "an")
