    Tarzan film

    Howyiz lads.

    This is a longshot but...
Trying to see if anyone remembers an old black and white Tarzan film (or possibly serial episode) where someone purporting to speak to African natives yells a few of the old cupla focal instead....
Any ideas? My Mam swears she remembers it.
    Cheers

Probably the old Johnny Weissmueller films, or one of them.  Never heard of this before, though....

It wouldn't surprise me, though I've never heard of it. It reminds me of Blazing Saddles, where the Indians all speak Yiddish! :-)

Yes, I remember seeing this on afternoon RTE sometime 1970-1976. It was an episode of Tarzan.

Reminds me of the movie The Last of the Mohicans.

The Huron Chief was really Cherokee and the Huron language was Cherokee. 😄

Guess they didn't count of Cherokee speakers watching the movie 😉

    Bhuel, d'fhéach mé air.

D'fhéadfadh siad a bheith ag labhairt na Gaeilge. Ansin arís, d'fhéadfadh siad a bheith ag labhairt Svahaílis.

Níor thuig mé focal dá ndúirt siad.

I remember this well. I was watching the episode and suddenly realised that the character was speaking Irish.  It was mainly a few grunted orders to his minions.  My recollection is that the actor involved was Sean McCrory who had lived in Galway for many years amd had st one stage plies his trade in the Taibhair theatre in Galway

Sílim go raibh tú i gceist le Sean McClory. Bhí sé féin.
